Dear Watchers

Whatcom Watch Wish List, Miracle on Bellingham Bay

Whatcom Watch Wish List

Whatcom Watch is supported by volunteers in the community who collectively come together each month to produce Whatcom Watch. If you would like to get involved and volunteer a few hours a month or more toward a specific project, contact Bill McCallum, bill@whatcomwatch.org or (360) 734-6007.

At this time, Whatcom Watch is in need of an online editor. Tom Pratum has been responsible for this volunteer role for eight years and is moving out of the area to pursue a new opportunity. Thank you Tom!

This volunteer role includes entering the current issue of Whatcom Watch into the content management system.

Requires knowledge of InDesign (and your own copy of the program), knowledge of HTML and PHP are necessary for some tasks. Access to a broadband Internet connection is essential.

Advanced social media skills in group/company management of Facebook, Twitter and other programs is encouraged along with innovative ideas on how to integrate the print and online versions. Volunteer hours are flexible, anywhere from 2-5 hours per month.

For additional information contact Tom Pratum: webman@whatcomwatch.org.

Miracle on Bellingham Bay

“Miracle on 34th Street” is a great movie. The scene where all of the Santa Claus letters are placed on the judge’s bench is powerful, and may be a meaningful example for Bellingham residents.

If those of us who don’t want coal trains coming through Bellingham to the proposed Gateway Pacific Terminal at Cherry Point send beautiful post cards of Bellingham to Warren Buffett, I think it would send a strong message. Sending a post card is much more powerful than sending a delete-able email. Here’s Mr. Buffett’s mailing address: Mr. Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., 3555 Farnam Street, Omaha, NE 68131
