Combination of Greed and Negligence
Dear Watchers:
Part two of g.h. kirch’s (what does irratible vatum mean?), realistic, albeit pessimistic, front page article on Ecology’s 26-year hiatus (October/November 2008) reminds me of the current fiscal crisis, which seems the natural consequences of a temptation initiated many years ago, that being a government (taxpayer) loan guarantee on mortgages.
It seems to me that this policy has led many buyers, sellers and brokers into the temptation of easy money, which has been linked to “the root of all evil.”
The parallel between this policy and that regarding the water rights of Lake Whatcom seems obvious in that both require the unfortunate combination of greed and negligence.
