Poetry
Tale Spin
by Nancy Grayum
Nancy Grayum, born to the temple of forests and currents of northwest Washington, saunters paths and waterways in silent reverence whenever possible. As poetess, listener and educator, she offers Time to those who are coping with the challenges of changing.
We dwelled within the sacred web,
Treasured messages from land and water.
Filigree of tribal cultures
Spinning from the Mother.

Hoofbeats bridled,
No more thundering heard.
Floodgates damned rivers.
Silvers barred from streams.
Steel power
Pressed diversity
Onto the face of a nickel.
Originals dismantled.
Ore mined, ownership defined.
Shells traded, gold fenced,
Bull paper on the floor.
Hot air depresses trade.
Cancer culture dominates
Fermenting lies o’ press.
Inflate, pretend, consume, spend.
